The 9th Circuit comes out against concealed carry

An en banc panel of the 9th Circuit just declared that the Second Amendment does not protect the right to “bear” arms, in the sense of carrying a concealed weapon for self-defense.

This is the opposite conclusion from the 7th Circuit.

I have not had the opportunity to read the opinion in detail, so I can’t comment on it other than to say it tracks the political proclivities of the judges involved.  However, with the circuits divided, the question is not ripe for the Supreme Court to hear–even if now is a terrible time for gun rights advocates to take it there, with the court split 4-4.  The Presidential election just took on even greater importance for pro-gun voters.

Closer to home, Leo Combat’s lawsuit against the State Department is still awaiting a decision. Grab a gift certificate to support pushback against the overbearing Obama Administration!
